Adventure Film Making...
Modern technology has allowed current adventurers to film ground breaking expeditions.
Patrick Winterton has taken advantage of this to produce remarkable footage of
unprecedented solo sea kayaking journeys. The Scottish islands combine some of the
worlds most committing sea paddling with an extraordinarily rich history and a mass of wildlife.
“Scottish Extremities” and “Linking Stevenson’s Lights” will be available on October 28th and
the 10th of December respectively. He has more ambitious plans for summer 2008 which will be announced in the new year?
Patrick is very passionate about film making, he states: 'The whole essence of adventure is the unknown and the unexpected.
An film about adventure has therfore to try and capture this.
With the current production trends there is no doubt in my mind that all
to often the genuine incidents of drama, fear, and excitement are lost.
As is the response. With small mobile cameras, minimal or non existent crews
it is easier to catch ‘the moment’. A solo trip with a film crew is not a solo trip
A survival prograsmme with support and safety is nothing of the sort.
We may have to sacrifice some picture quality but modern equipment does allow us to do,
and film, adventures for real.
I am no actor, but operating alone I have no inhibitions and find it easy to
express my genuine passion for the places I go and extraordinary things I’ve seen.
I hope that mixing my enthusiasm with unusual physical challenges creates both
entertaining and inspirational footage.'
